HAFLA REPORT

Hafla for Haiti Report

This hafla was, perhaps, one of the BEST that we've had in this area. EACH and EVERY dancer was exceptional. As I watched the audience, I was thrilled to see them giving each dancer their undivided attention!

The American Legion Hall in Fairhope last night was rockin' with bellydance music and bellydancers performing a variety of dances ranging from Egyptian to Tribal Fusion to World Fusion! And as Kenny Graves stated, "who knew a woman's body could do all that!" (lol!)

Everyone should PURCHASE a copy of the dvd because this was a show you will want to see over and over again. For those of you who missed the show you can contact Ricardo Graphics Studio to get a copy. Their phone is 251-928-3440 and the email is: info@ricardographics.com. And of course they have a website and you can purchase pix made last night from there also. The web addy is: www.ricardographics.photoreflect.com

I have to THANK TWO VERY SPECIAL men who provided their special talents: to KENNY GRAVES who acted as emcee-THANK YOU! The bellydance community is especially grateful that you were with us last night and value you for being so willing to help us. We appreciate you, Kenny!

To JAMEY WARD a warm, heartfelt THANK YOU for handling the music and volunteering your time and equipment. We value you as a tireless supporter of our bellydance community and words cannot express how much we appreciate your efforts.

And to everyone else: Julie, Jane, & all those who helped collect the money; to Mike & Nancy who drove from Tallahassee to vend AND perform; and to each and every dancer-THANK YOU for sharing your talents with all of us.

A special thank you to my FUZE dancers who all helped to get the Hall set up by moving and lifting chairs and tables, decorating the stage and all the little things that had to get done.
Those of you who have hosted haflas and seminars in the past know that it is WORK. And without each and every person who helped it couldn't have happened.

Altogether we collected $700. After deducting the cost of the Hall rental of $200 we will be making a $500 donation to the Haitian relief efforts. And we all know that EVERY bit helps.

LOST AND FOUND! If you think you lost something email me at: zivadiva2000@yahoo.com BECAUSE we found a few items that we couldn't account for! lol!

AFTER THE HAFLA about 20 of us went to Wintzels to celebrate my big "5-0" birthday. I appreciate and love all those who planned this. And to AMANDA....my birthday cake was delicious---it was SO GOOD! Thank you!
I would be hard pressed to come up with a better birthday than this one which was spent with people I love.

HI!

I, ZivaDiva Bellydance, along with Mary Moore from Atlanta, GA, and the Zuri Dance Co., as well as Baklava Bellydance and MANY other bellydancers on the Gulf Coast want to let you know this:

ON SAT. FEB. 27, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the American Legion Hall at 700 Mobile Street in Fairhope, Alabama, 36532, we will have a HAFLA FOR HAITI to do our part to assist so many people in need in Haiti. ADMISSION will be $10 for ALL (even dancers) with kids under age 8 getting in free.

If you are a dancer and wish to perform please contact me, ZivaDiva, at: zivadiva2000@yahoo.com OR call: 251-463-1299. The lineup is already filling up so call and reserve FAST.

Solo performances are allowed from 3-5 minutes and group dances up to 6 minutes. All music will need to be provided on a cd.

There will be a dressing area for those who need to change into costume but it'll be smaller than we're used to. Dancers will be allowed to get in at 2:30 p.m. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m.

VOLUNTEERS will need to help set up chairs and take 'em down after the event. Many hands will be needed to assist with getting things cleaned up and out of the venue site.

There will be TWO acts only. NO outside food or drinks are allowed by the venue site. This event will be a family-fun, alcohol free event.

After deducting the venue rental fee of $200 (anyone want to donate toward that?)--100% of the funds will go to Bay Community Church (our church) with a designation for the funds to be sent directly to Haiti.

AND...LOL! THAT WILL BE MY 50TH BIRTHDAY WEEKEND!!! COME ENJOY THE SHOW!! And help me celebrate STAYING YOUNG (hey..teehee...bellydance will do that do ya!)

Shimmies!
