MEMORY LANE

I was going through some photos on my myspace page (www.myspace.com/daphnebellydance) and found some pix I'd forgotten about.

Such as this one taken back in 2000. I was modeling this costume sent to me by Kruz of New Orleans "by mistake". Actually, he knew if I tried it on I'd want to keep it--and I did! lol!

I also found this pic (gold costume) which is in a below post. I was having a friend take pix. I look at myself and remember how very passionate I was about this dance form.  I was in a group of women I loved. I traveled often with the troupe director and over the years I took workshops with some big international bellydance superstars.

Fast forward to 2005-
Here I'm playing with feather boas at a photoshoot in Fairhope.  This was fun.

I was with my friend, Jane, of Zuri, below.  This was not long after I started teaching in Daphne and we started hosting haflas for the local dancers. Check out my short, curly hair..lol!

Then, fast forward to 2010 and here I am performing an improvisational dance---I'm doing a Berber knee crawl with a sharp scimitar on my head!  Yes, it is sharp!

Bellydance has given me so much joy over the years. It helps me to feel confident, powerful as a woman, and I love how the moves make my body strong.

I am returning to teaching because so many have asked me to because they say I'm a good teacher. To this I say--I try..grins (!) But the main reason I will teach again is that I want other women to feel all these things.

THAT'S RIGHT! I'M RETURNING TO TEACHING.  DETAILS WILL COME IN 2-3 WEEKS!

Hugs to ya.

1999
"I'll be back..." (quoting Arnold Schwarzenegger)

Earlier this summer I posted that I was resigning from bellydance. Over the years I have taken a few breaks for various reasons. When I made that statement I fully intended to resign once and for all.

However, I learned that when something, such as love of a dance form, gets in your blood it is HARD to fully release that activity. Additionally, I had many requests from people to return to teaching.

After serious thought I have made the decision to RETURN to teaching bellydance in the next few weeks. I will teach and will perform at certain area venues as I have done in the past. Plans are in the works to make a full announcement within the next month.
